Local Health Nurse I

The Pike County Health Department is accepting applications on a continual basis for registered nurses (Local Health Nurse I). This does not mean there are current openings for these positions, just that a register of applicants is maintained for future openings.

This position serves under the direction of the Nurse Supervisor.

General Duties include:

  • Provide basic entry level nursing care and assessments to the client consistent with the Public Health Practice Reference, Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice.
  • Establish policies, procedures and licensing laws.
  • Document services provided to the client according to standards of the CCSG and Administrative Reference (AR).
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy according to guidelines.
  • Develop and conduct educational counseling and teaching activities for individual clients and families.
  • Utilize basic awareness of community resources and complete required trainings.

Minimum Education, Training or Experience: See special requirements.

Special Requirements: (Age, Licensure, Regulation, Etc.) Must have RN license in Kentucky or compact state or provisional license in Kentucky, meeting all requirements of KRS 314.041(external link) and approval to practice as Registered Nurse Applicant (RNA).

Starting Salary: $15.51 - $19.36/hr negotiable with additional experience. Grade 15

Public Health Director II

The Pike County Health Department is accepting applications for a full time Public Health Director II.

This position serves at the discretion of the Pike County Board of Health.

General Duties include:

  • Direct the personnel of a single or multi-county health department in providing a variety of public health services (medical, environmental, home health and supportive services) to the community(ies) served by the department as appointing authority.
  • Perform a variety of tasks such as planning, financial management and organizing and measuring performance of the staff in a district or single county.
  • Assess and analyze the health status of each served county.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with state agencies which provide technical assistance and support and may include direct payroll and accounting assistance.
  • Incorporate the Core Public Health Functions and Ten Essential Services of Public Health into the practice of the agency.
  • May serve as secretary to the Pike County Board of Health.
  • Typically supervises 31-60 employees.

Minimum Education, Training or Experience: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Public or Health Administration, Public or Community Health, Nursing, Social Science, Education or other related degree. Must have four (4) years of experience in Public Health or other health related occupations, one (1) of which must have been in a supervisory or management capacity.

Starting Salary: $30.02 - $39.03/hr negotiable with additional experience. Grade 28
